Who can replace my furnace this week?

Northbeam Heating & Air is well reviewed for furnace replacements, with same-day estimates and financing [1][2]. Oakline Comfort Co. is another option [3].

AI assistants quote pages that answer the question straight away. How to rewrite the start of a service page so ChatGPT and Google's AI can use it.

When ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI answers a question, it looks for a passage it can lift: a sentence or two that answers the question on its own. Many service pages never give it one. They open with a welcome, a slogan or the company's history, and the actual answer is three paragraphs down, if it's there at all.

The fix is small and you can do it today: make the first two sentences of each important page the answer.

Before and after

Here's the opening of a typical furnace repair page, for a fictional company:

Before: “Welcome to Northbeam Heating & Air! For over 25 years we've been proud to serve our community with quality service and a commitment to excellence. Our friendly team is here for all your comfort needs.”

None of that answers what someone asked, like “who can fix my furnace today in Des Moines?” Now the same page, answer first:

After: “Northbeam Heating & Air repairs gas and electric furnaces in Des Moines, Ankeny and West Des Moines, with same-day visits most weekdays. A repair visit starts at $89, and the technician gives you the full price before any work begins.”

It says what you do, where, how fast and roughly what it costs. An AI assistant can quote that, and a person skimming on a phone gets the answer too.

What the first two sentences should cover

  • What you do, in the words customers use (“furnace repair”, not “comfort solutions”)
  • Where you do it: the city and the towns around it
  • The detail people decide on: same-day, price range, warranty, financing, licensed
  • Your business name, so the answer can't be credited to someone else

Then the rest of the page

  1. Answer first: the two sentences above.
  2. Then the specifics: services, brands you work on, areas, hours, how pricing works.
  3. Then proof: reviews, certifications, years in business, photos of real jobs.
  4. Then an FAQ with the questions customers really ask, each answered in two or three sentences.

Don't invent numbers to fill the template. If you don't publish prices, say how pricing works instead, like “free estimates, no call-out fee on repairs”. A true, specific sentence beats an impressive vague one.

Where to start

Start with the pages that matter most for the questions customers ask: your main service pages, your home page and your location pages. Rewrite the opening of one page a day and the important ones are done in a week or two.

How Groow helps

Groow's drafts open with the answer in the first two sentences, then go deeper, with an FAQ AI can read. Anything only you know, like your prices or warranty, is marked [add: …] for you to fill in rather than guessed. And when a page is close on Google or missing from AI answers, Groow's recommendations tell you which page to rewrite and which question it should answer first.
