From mentioned to recommended, and how to tell it's working
Being named isn't the same as being recommended. The proof that tips AI toward you, and how to measure progress without fooling yourself.
Sometimes ChatGPT names you in a list but recommends someone else. The difference is usually proof: something it can repeat that makes you the safer pick.
Proof AI can repeat
- Reviews: a steady stream of new Google reviews, and reviews on the sites AI cites for your trade. Ask every customer, right after the job, and never offer anything in return.
- Your record: years in business, jobs done, licences, awards, guarantees. Put them on your website in plain sentences, not just in a logo strip.
- Who you're best for: a clear line on each service page about the customers you suit.
How to tell it's working
AI answers change from one ask to the next, so one check tells you very little. Ask the same questions several times, on the same day each month, and count how often you're named and recommended. Changes take time to show: give each one a few weeks before deciding it worked or didn't.
Watch the other assistants too. You can be strong on Perplexity and missing on ChatGPT, because they read different sources.
What to do next
Work through the steps from this course one more time each month: new reviews, any wrong facts, the next best-of list, the next page to improve. It's steady work, and it adds up.
Do this before the next lesson
- Send a review request to your last ten customers.
- Add your record (years, jobs, licences, guarantees) to your home page in plain sentences.
- Put a reminder in your calendar to re-ask your lesson-one questions on the same day next month.
