Get your facts right everywhere

Ask ChatGPT about your business by name and you'll often find something wrong: old hours, a town you don't serve, a service you stopped offering, or a phone number from years ago. It isn't making it up. It's repeating a page somewhere that still says so.

Fix it at the source

There's no form to correct ChatGPT. The fix is to correct the pages it reads, so the next answer is right:

• Your website: the home page, your services, the towns you cover, your about and contact pages.
• Your Google Business Profile: categories, services, hours, service area and description. Google's own AI leans on it heavily: in our Local AI Index, Google AI Mode cited Google's business listings in 90% of its answers.
• The directories you're on: Yelp, BBB, Angi, Thumbtack, your trade's own directories and your chamber of commerce.

Say what you do the same way everywhere

Write one sentence: what you do, for whom, and where. For example: “Family-run heating and cooling company serving Des Moines, Ankeny and West Des Moines since 2009.” Use it on your website, your Google profile, LinkedIn, Facebook and every directory. When every source agrees, AI repeats it with confidence.

Keep your name, address and phone number exactly the same everywhere too, down to “Street” versus “St.”. Small differences make it harder for AI to be sure two listings are the same business.
